On Saturday, August 13th, a summer music workshop entitled There Is Nothing Ordinary About Singing the Ordinaries, will be conducted by the Music Commission of our Diocese. It will take place at our Cathedral in Scranton from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on that day.
The workshop will focus on providing instruction and resources for singing the Ordinaries of the Mass (e.g., Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei).
Participants will learn to sing appropriate Mass settings, learn about where to find resources for them, and be instructed about how to implement the sung settings with their congregations and choirs.
Participants will find it very helpful to bring their personal computers/ devices to the workshop in order to have a hands-on experience in accessing resources.
This workshop is intended for all church musicians including organists, choir and music directors, choir members, and clergy.
